iPod at the Movies

Welcome to VideoHound's MoviPod, the one and only movie review source available for your iPod. Enjoy the power of quick searches, complete cast and crew listings, insider notes, awsome audio samples and much, much more.
Requirements
VideoHound's MoviPod guides run on any 3rd generation or later iPod with an LCD screen. They require only 2 to 10 MB's of space...about the size of two songs!
Installation
The MoviPod guides can be downloaded from the internet in either .zip or .sit compressed format. If the file doesn't automatically de-compress onto your PC, please refer to your Web browser's instructions to obtain the necessary plug-in.
Inside the Videohound folder are two folders: VideoHound and Audio Samples.
When your iPod is attached to your desktop computer locate the iPod hard drive (PC users will find it listed by clicking the My Computer icon). Drag the VideoHound folder into the Notes folder inside the iPod hard drive. The Audio Samples are mp3 files that can be installed on your iPod as you would any song--one easy method is to drag the whole Audio Samples folder into the iTunes application.
-Welcome-
The -Welcome- file provides information on enjoying the particular MoviPod product you are viewing. It also provides a scoring table for the VideoHound MoviLinks quiz questions that appear at the end of every review.
Sample Review
Each MoviPod review contains many different details, ranging from the title, to the review, to cast listings, to awards received. The information in these reviews is designed to help you choose a video you'll like, increase your enjoyment of a movie as you watch (especially by answering the nagging question of "What else have I seen that guy in?"), and increase your knowledge of movie trivia.

In the above example the movie's 1) title is Unforgiven, 2) rating is three and one half stars, 3) year released is 1992, 4) MPAA rating is R, 5) audio clip can be played by pressing select, 6) review, 7) length in minutes is 131, 8) format is Color (other possibility is BW for Black and White), 9) format is VHS, DVD and Widescreen (other possiblities are CD-I, closed captioned and 8mm), 10) cast includes Clint Eastwood, Gene Hackman, etc., 11) Director is Clint Eastwood, 12) Writer is Clint Eastwood, etc., 13) Bonus notes (in this case, "Popcorn Profits"), 14) Awards won include 1992 Oscars for Director, Film Editing, etc., 14) Distributor is WarnerHome Video, 15) Categories include Growing Older, Gunslingers, etc., 16) linked movie trivia question.
The Rating Scale
(One Dog's Opinion):
(Four Stars)
Masterful cinematic expression. Flawless or nearly so. Will want to recommend to complete strangers on the street.
(Three Stars and a Half)
Memorable cinematic fare with flair, verve, polish, sheen, and panache. Easily able to recommend to friends.
(Three Stars)
Good story, fine acting provide decent entertainment return on video investment. Would recommend to family members, even distant cousins.
(Two Stars and a Half)
Technically well-made but often standard fare; won't make you yell at the screen too much.
(Two Stars)
May be perfectly delightful to certain tastes. A waste of time for others. Usually uninspired genre flicks.
(One Star and a Half)
Toying with respectability, while still lurching in the gutter. Often lacking in standard cinematic devices, like plot and performances.
(One Star)
Poor use of camera, film, sets, script, actors, and studio vehicles.
(WOOF!)
Watching your neighbor's vacation videos might be less painful, May be redeemed by stretches of unintentional amusement.
Frequently Asked Questions

The Sensei is in! Find answers to all of the most frequently asked questions regarding VideoHound's MoviPod guides. Try the links on the Contact Us page to submit your question via e-mail.
Customer: Can I install two guides at once?
Sensei: Apple's iPod has a notes limit of 1000 entriesfor this reason we designed the guides to be installed separately. If you find yourself wanting to watch a good Alien flick simply install the Alien Nation guide over the Academy Awards guide (then do the opposite when the Oscars roll around and you want to be the trivia king or queen of your party).
Customer: The notes load in one at a time. Is there anyway to speed up the loading of the guides?
Sensei: After a guide is loaded some iPod models need to identify the new notes one-by-one. This process should happen only the first time after installing a guide, or each time after syncing your iPod with your PC. In between the guide should be available instantaneously.
Customer: I don't see any movie stills. Where are they?
Sensei: Not every entry features an image for memory considerations. While VideoHound comes with a dozen or so built-in pictures, you may add your own JPEGs as outlined in the guide or add MotoDodo's VideoHound Pix for even more images.
